DIY Fresh Cut Wood Banners

Wood lovers this one's for you.  Today I'm sharing a quirky little fabric banner: I (heart) fresh cut wood.  Because I know there are definitely some of you readers out there who love fresh cut wood just as much as me.  It smells like heaven!

I recently had the opportunity to try the new custom fabric offered at Zazzle.  The options are endless when it comes to customizing, you truly can make just about any design but I choose a lettered print.

"G" is for Gumball Machine

diy gumball machine kids craft

Time to raid the scrap wood pile again to make this simple gumball machine.  Now technically it's not a machine but more of a candy jar however it does make an easy craft for a kids birthday party and that is my goal here.

DIY Giant Decorator Letters

diy knock off decorator letters

Grab your jigsaw and some plywood because you can definitely DIY these giant decorator letters.  They make a huge statement for very minimal cost (and a fun birthday gift for my daughter's friend too!).

Their letters cost $79 each, that's crazy talk too me!  (To do the math 4 letters would be $316 - are you kidding?)  I used 1/2" plywood scraps to make my version but all you need for one letter is a 1/2" plywood handy panel (2' x 4') which runs about $15.  You might even be able to fit two letters on one panel if you're lucky.  Also you could use 1/2" MDF which is cheaper and makes those curvy cuts super smooth.

thrift store items to repurpose

What a great collection she sent!  The little copper pan is beautiful.  The task was to repurpose the items so I took the wood trivet and made it into a marker holder:

DIY Turf Projects

diy turf projects

Since a majority of us still have snow on the ground and it doesn't look like Spring will be here anytime soon I thought it would be a good time to share some diy turf projects.  If we can't even see the real grass then we might as well bring out the fake stuff!  Follow are 4 fun projects using astroturf.

Astroturf is relatively inexpensive - one large 6' x 8' piece is under $20 and you can get a lot of projects from that one piece.  I've also seen smaller 3' x 5' rug sizes and even the little 4" square samples could be used to make coasters.

This Spring mantel from 4 years ago is still one of my favorites.  Simply cut the turf to size and hot glue the rough edge under for a finished look.
