I recently participated in the Creating With the Stars contest where 12 diy bloggers were selected to create a project based on a certain theme.  Each blogger was paired up with a star blogger who served as a mentor, I got lucky being paired up with Becky from Infarrantly Creative and we actually won the first round with our knock off project: sliding barn door console.

Then came Round 2: Paint.

How to Repair or Install Pan Cabinet Storage Dividers

How to repair or replace dividers for pan cabinet storage using a Kreg jig.

pan cabinet storage dividers

We recently moved to a new - old home and naturally inherited lots of projects that need tending to.
It's been 10 months and I'm just getting around to the kitchen.  It's a good bones functioning kitchen with solid wood cabinets.

But it needs a little TLC.

pan cabinet storage dividers before and after
1. Change paint color. (The new color is Benjamin Moore iron mountain.)
2. Remove sticky melted plastic drawer bumper residue.
3. Repair loose dividers in pan storage cabinet.
(The new hardware is D. Lawless antique iron cup pull.)

Hers's how I repaired the loose dividers using my Kreg jig.

"F" is for Family Homework Stations & Giveaway

Family homework stations and command center with Staples home office products:

Do your kids do their homework in different areas of your home?

If they are anything like my kids then you have one sitting in the kitchen, one at the dining room table, one in the family room and maybe one in their bedroom.

And chances are they will have papers and notes that need attention.

And they will need supplies: pencil, pen, eraser, tape, stapler, paper, ruler, etc.

And you need one central location to put all this stuff.

"R" is for Round 2: Paint & I'm Out

My short stint as a contestant on Creating With the Stars is over.

The project I created for Round 2 is this family refreshments station:

The boxes are made entirely from scrap plywood and copper pipes the previous owner of our home had left in the basement.

I'm feeling a little deflated but honored to have participated and challenged in a new way, it has definitely changed how I look at design and styling.
Thank you to everyone who voted and supported the contest.

I also made the sign above the station out of wood scraps.

I will share the full tutorials on both the boxes and how I constructed the station and the sign in the coming weeks.

Until then back to my regular projects. :)

A huge thank you to my star Beckie from Infarrantly Creative, I couldn't have asked for a better mentor and partner.  She helped me see things in a new light, especially in regards to styling and pushed me to really create a finished look.  I'm forever grateful to Beckie for all her time (and texts!)
